6th North East Bengali, Little Magazine Conference, Tinsukia

I don’t know actually, when the plan started, maybe from the previous year. Father told me, there’s a function in 24th & 25th of December and you have to prepare a song for it. I thought this program will be like ‘Shudhu Kobitar Jonno’. The date was again finalized on my born date and that was bit pity for me. This whole program was organized by the ‘Ujan Sahitya Goshti, Tinsukia’ and many more people from Guwahati, Agartala. I didn’t even think this program will be a pride for me. This function was the excellent experience I ever got in my life, till date. I got to know so many people from the whole of northeast and Kolkata.

Let me first explain that I understood what Little Magazine is. These are magazine not published for commercial purpose. People have very modest idea about magazine and books those get published in NE India. A conference, like this one provides scopes to know all such things. It’s a big conference and a book fair, where people from the whole north east sit inside their respective stalls and People give long-lengthy boring lectures in every 1 hour 30minutes session. Only 15 minutes were prearranged between for cultural program. I sang and recited in such two sessions in the very first day.

I was the volunteer of Little magazine 2016. I was assigned by Tuhina aunty and our group was named as the monkey group, ‘bador shena’, and the monkeys were me, Poulomi Banerjee, Swarnali Ghosh, Tuhina aunty's daughter. I was really very busy the whole week, going for practice, my coaching classes, and my music classes. I managed everything somehow, but still I had to miss my coaching classes. I didn’t felt tired. I enjoyed doing everything. I enjoyed missing my tuition and sit for practice overtime in durgabari auditorium. That was a type of fun, which I couldn’t miss at all.

Anyways, the great program started after a long linger. I woke up early at 7 am and found father already left for Dugabari auditorium. I got ready and reached auditorium at sharp 8.30 am. I was the first little volunteer to reach there. Slowly, everyone came. I got my identity card (as I was the volunteer). The program started with the flag hosting and a chorus song. Bador shena's duty started right after that. I was really busy the whole day; I didn't manage to talk with someone steadily. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were arranged in Durgabari Shishu Vidyalay. I sang a folk song 'Krishno Pokkho' at 3 pm and a group recitation at 4.45 pm. I got so many appreciations and blessings from so many people for my song and recitation. Then again back to duty. In evening, our group distributed certificate, memento, a book and a cup of tea to each and every stall. 24th December ended with a documentary and my born date arrived i.e. 25 December, also the second day of Little Magazine.

In the morning of Christmas, we all went for a procession which was titled as 'Shubhajatra' at 9 am approx. we enjoyed a lot. Everyone sang with lots of joy and lots of happiness, forgetting their every mess, tension, everything and singing happily from heart. As soon as Shubhajatra completed, I had to leave for Sanchayita as I had my video shooting there. I celebrated my birthday with all my mates there in Sanchayita. Sanchayita is the name of my music school, that's a music organization. In evening, Bador shena distributing chop with a cup of tea to the whole audience and members of the stalls. It was really a matter of hard work. People were giving lecture through the microphone and bador shena was doing all sort of hard work, who cares for those boring lectures. Madan jethu who was entrusted to write the proceedings of the conference, wrote a good two lines rhyme on me “Poushali Soi Niye Bitoriche Chop-Cha, Kobi Tora Monchete Joto Khushi Kopca” (পৌষালি সই নিয়ে বিতরিছে চপ-চা, কবি তোরা মঞ্চেতে যত খুশি কপচা)   Last but not the least, everyone in the auditorium started dancing as soon as the last function 'Dhamail' (traditional dance of the Syleties) started. This was the best part of the whole two days program and by this Little Magazine 2016 in Tinsukia, ended.

After every happy moment, a gloomy moment happens. See offing everyone was really a hard task for me. I didn’t want anyone to return to their homes; also I can’t stop them too. I went to the railway station to see off Gautam jethu, Sanjay jethu, Amitava uncle, Basab jethu, Prashun uncle, Madan jethu, Debolina aunty and many more people. I got a selfie stick from Amitava uncle, Moby Dick from Prashun uncle, a treat from Basab Jethu and a story book from Sajal uncle as my birthday present. The last person was Tanmay uncle. He stayed for more 4 days after the program. We all together went to Dibrugarh and Parushuram kund for a trip and enjoyed a lot. Again a sad day, it was 30th December when I went to the Mohanbari airport to wave a good bye to Tanmay uncle.

It may take time to adjust with my normal life, but every memory will be captured in my brain, forever.

The 12 years

Let's recall 12 years of journey in just 5 minutes It all started with a drop of tear, and ended with the same.   This is a real life story of that every person who went to school, not just for getting learned but also for a different deed. Starting with 1234… to sinθ cosθ tanθ… it has a tale of 12years in between. This is a story which has thriller, comedy, love, gloom and everything. Let’s tape the tale and rewind it to the day 12 years back and forwarding it so on. It was probably 2007 when we left our little footprints on the floor of the building. Crying out loud and shouting "Daddy, take me home please…". We were helpless that time, cause’ there was no one who could get us out of this mess, who could help us making out in the pandemonium. We were just sitting in a big unknown room, everything there was different which we never expected to be. That big chubby lady was an anonymous creature for us who spoke in an unknown language that was ENGLISH. Every...

Ganpati Bappa Morya and Social Concern

(C)Image Tinsukia is on its peak mood to celebrate Ganesh Chathurti this year. Everyone is in a big chaos and not even know what's going round in the world. Believing in the only moto"ভগবানের লীলা, তিনি সবার রক্ষা করবে" and shouting at the top of their lungs, disturbing each and every corner of every colony. No, now what you think, गणपति बप्पा जागकर तुम्हारे पास आएंगे? This never happened and will never happen in world history. I don't mean that celebrating any kind of religious festival is bad or perturbing or should not be done, but their should be discipline, devotional feeling in all aspect. Specially hindu religious festives are celebrated in violent ways (violence here doesn't mean harming anyone by physical force). Bappa ain't gonna bless anyone who just mean to shout 'Ganpati Bappa morya' and put whatsapp status for a day and wait till the day of visarjan and emerge Bappa in a clean river.  A heart with pure devoti...
